A Muslim must understand how important it is to guard one's shame. How great is the value of kinship in Islam that we are encouraged to safeguard the dignity and cover the shortcomings of each other. The Friday Sermon highlighted on the Sin of Exposing Shame.
The Khatib in the sermon stressed that in this new media era, there are few people who misuse social media and smartphone apps to spread things that can embarrass themselves and others, whether through writing, pictures or videos. This action not only tarnishes dignity, but can also invite long-term sin and slander. As believers, we must always guard ourselves from hurting others, whether through actions or words. This is because revealing or exposing someone's shame is included in the act of ghibah or backbiting, which is strongly prohibited in Islam. Muslims must remember that Allah SWT likens the backbiter to one who eats the flesh of his dead brother.
